Kane (my six year-old) and I went to the beach tonight together as the sun was going down. I sat and watched him laugh and run away from the ocean waves as if it was a playmate trying to catch him as they played tag. He is the embodiment of being fully in the moment, my angel messenger. I find raising a child often connects you and heals places within you with forgotten medicine you held naturally as a child. Children are our DNA, younger versions of ourselves coming out in a fractalized embodiment, as a puzzle piece to complete both of our soul journeys. They hold our memories and re-enliven them. And when I was thinking of this, a distant memory flashed before my eyes of when I was a child. There is so much that we often pass by with no recognition of it’s magnificence or of it’s consciousness. I remembered playing with the Earth as a child and such a tangible warmth in my heart, a gratitude for the ocean, the sky, our mother; as if these elements were beings but more like they were close friends of mine. I would thank the wind for caressing my cheek and playing with my hair, I would play tag with the waves and thank water for hugging me and washing away the rigidity of the day. I would thank the sky and Earth for connecting to cradle me in between and give me life. Even more so, I would see the the Earth as me: the water-the ocean-the rivers like my blood, the rock my bones, the fiery sun like my warm heart, and the air my breath. We are the Earth. Kia Ora, behold the breath of life!
