Kevin and I were asked by immigration a few weeks back to write a summary of our goals together. We finally finished our letter last night and this is the result.
To Whom It May Concern,
Firstly, Kevin and I would like to extend our gratitude for you taking the time to read our letter. We apologise it has taken so long for us to write our future plans. Just to give you an idea of what has been transpiring in this time, Kevin’s mother has been diagnosed and undergoing treatment of stage three ovarian cancer, with which she receives surgery today as well we have moved houses; this will be the second time in a two month period.
Kevin and I met online doing what we love which is networking on social media, namely Facebook. Kevin has been working with his brand Earth, we are one for four years now. Through Earth, we are one in 2013, he had organised in a three month period twenty-five thousand people to meditate simultaneously all across the globe. I (Jocelyn) was completely fascinated with his work and his ability to bring people together for the greater good, I messaged him and this was the beginning of our two year long business and love relationship. The two of us love brainstorming about how we can make unique brands that inspire people. When visiting me in America a year ago, I introduced Kevin to a group of close business friends, who are website designers, who eventuated what is now earthweareone.com, along with the newest design at ewao.com. Kevin and I work on concept design for the site. I am also a writer for earthweareone.com as a significant contributor. A year ago, Kevin and I set up a blog website to supply creative content for this audience; where today, around five to ten million fans visit per month. At this time Earth, we are one has an audience of around six hundred and thirty thousand fans, reaching a total of almost eight million people per day on Facebook.
Our direction with Earth we are one, is to grow the brand, we are starting to focus more on quality content, sharp design and have found talented creative writers to work with. There are not many people in the world doing what we are doing, so we are very thankful to be able to do what we both love to do for a living. The business is constantly expanding. We are making more contacts, and starting to work together with people from around the world along with what we hope to be soon well known names in science and spiritually. Our mutual goal for our business growth is to save up enough money (hopefully within the next year or so) to buy property within New Zealand and build our own environmentally friendly home. We have a shared love of living in-tune with nature that include such activities as gardening, homesteading, permaculture and nature preservation. New Zealand already has so many policies that are protecting this country and this is a passion to the both of us, considering how polluted the planet is at this point in history. We need to do our best to turn this ship around, and if we can make a change, no matter how small it is, then we should do so by living through example.
I (Kevin) was lead by the curiosity in my heart to America to meet Jocelyn in person to find out the final puzzle piece to our connection. After a whole eight months of bonding through video chats and Facebook messaging, I needed to know if the physical attraction was going to be there in person. It may sound trivial but I know now, if it is meant to be, you can truly connect with someone through the internet. When I first came to the United States, my plan was to only stay for twelve days. However, as the date to leave was fast approaching, we both did not want to part ways. I ended up staying the full three months that my visa could allow and we have not parted since. With Kane being so comfortable with me and Jocelyn quickly falling in love with everything in New Zealand, we made the decision to try and live here, together as a family. Now that we have been together for more than a year, it would be great to finally make those plans that most families that meet in the same country have the luxury to make; to build a home together and to provide an education for their children. We know you see applications come in from around the world every day, however it would mean the world to us if we were granted permission to stay together on the soil of Aotearoa.
